My name is Lisa M. Mackay and I am a state Licensed Acupuncturist in Massachusetts. I have a Master's Degree in Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture. I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Sociology from UMass Boston. I have been practicing acupuncture since 2004.
As a system of medicine, acupuncture is over 2500 years old, and may have been practiced in China in a rudimentary form 5,000, even 7,000 years ago. Here in the United States its been practiced since the 1970's.
I use both Japanese and Chinese Acupuncture in my practice. I use Japanese needles that are very fine like the thickness of a piece of hair. I also use another modality called a cold laser which helps relax muscles, bring circulation to effected areas and enhance what the needles do. My Facial Rejuvenation with Acupuncture (FRA) Program uses needles, jade rolling, and LED lighting masks, all helping bring circulation & healing to the face.
I offer a very relaxing atmosphere for my patients with music or waves playing in the background while receiving a calming treatment. My patients always leave my office smiling feeling tranquil and in-tune with themselves and their surroundings.

Acupuncture and Pain
Acupuncture is best known for treating pain. All types of pain in the body. It brings down inflammation in the effected area. It also circulates the blood and energy collected there. By doing this the pain reduces and healing is promoted.
Studies have shown there is brain activity during an acupuncture treatment. Showing there is a direct connection between where needles are placed and how the body and brain use them.
Acupuncture for Anxiety
Acupuncture is very successful in calming an individual's anxiety. Through treatments the points used help to reduce panic attacks, calm a racing mind, and promote better sleeping patterns. There are common symptoms we experience when having anxiety with worry or fear or both. Acupuncture helps manage those symptoms to have more of a quality life.
Acupuncture for Fertility
Acupuncture treatments for fertility has been very successful. I've been treating for fertility issues for at least 18 years.
I work on both regular cycle issues with no fertility program and cycles with programs in place. I have treatments that follow the cycle the patient is on and also add de-stressing points as well. Having less stress with conceiving is helpful.
I myself am a recipient of acupuncture and fertility treatments with success. I understand the process of emotional steps it takes to conceive. Acupuncture is a wonderful way to support this journey.
