ACUPUNCTURE AND FERTILITY ISSUES

Acupuncture has been used for 3000 years to treat fertility. It is an alternative way to regulate your periods, hormones and help conceive.

Acupuncture has been proven to relieve stress, harmonize energy that is not flowing in the right direction and also to strengthen the immune system. This all helps your ability to relax and concentrate on your well-being.

Acupuncture works on our reproductive system. It can help to improve the function of the ovaries, maintenance and growth of healthy embryos, and it can also help to thicken the lining of the uterus by regulating the estrogen and progesterone levels. If you are using an IVF or IUI program, acupuncture can assist the ovaries to better respond to the stimulating drugs by helping to reproduce more follicles and good quality of eggs and also thicken the uterine lining.

High levels of FSH show poor ovarian function. Acupuncture can help decrease the level of FSH by again regulating hormone levels and ovarian function. I have also seen Acupuncture help reduce cysts thereby increasing the percentage of conceiving.

For the male patient who is having fertility issues, acupuncture can improve semen quality and quantity. Doing this will improve the health of the embryo that will in turn reduce the risk of miscarriage.

Finally, diet and exercise can play an important role in fertility issues. Some suggestions are to reduce the amount of cold drinks and raw foods consumed. Limiting the intake of ice cream, coffee, and chocolate. During this important time, you need to nourish your reproductive system by eating healthier and at regular intervals. Also exercise and meditation can be helpful.

The Treatment Plan

I suggest that the patient come to me for treatment before starting the IVF/IUI program or trying to conceive naturally. Its a good idea to prepare your body for the steps that are required to conceive. If you cannot begin prior Acupuncture can still help at anytime during the process.
